Reference Markers

Adhesive Targets for Precision 3D Measurement

3D scanners and hand-held laser scanners use reference markers, or adhesive targets, to help increase the accuracy of each scan orientation. The need for targets depends on the project and part. Using reference markers is especially helpful for parts that need to be fully digitized by flipping the part upside down. ZEISS technology uses minimal targets, and these reference markers are precisely sized and printed. Customers who prefer not placing reference markers onto a part's surface use premeasured Reference Frames. These frames have targets on the frame, and the part is positioned inside. The Reference Frame is not part-specific, so it can be used with many different parts that are relatively the same size. In addition, the cost of building a Reference Frame is inexpensive.

Most reference markers come with three adhesive selection options: 

  1. Low
  2. Medium
  3. High (temperature stable up to 120°C)
